This is what happens when you buy cheap & nasty diy kits

A few years ago we were called out to a home to fix an existing bali hut structure.
The customer told us over the phone that one of the posts was not straight and required re-adjusting after a storm.
when we arrived onsite, this is what we found.

Not only was it very poorly built and not up to Australian standards but it was also not installed correctly by bolting it to a secure surface.
this was Purchased only 1 year prior and costs somewhere around the $2000 mark.
one major storm and this is the result.
when the customer asked me what can we do to fix it, the only answer I could provide was to cut it up into pieces and throw it away before it fell over and seriously hurt someone.
This is the reasons for my answer:
Made from bamboo, tiny little screws and bolts and most had cracked through the bamboo.
there was string holding together some of the support arms.
the entire frame had twisted and because it wasnt bolted down it was leaning up against the glass pool fence.

this was a very serious and dangerous situation.
If the winds were strong enough, it could have been picked up like a kite and who know what damage it could have caused.

when shopping around, choosing the cheapest option can cost you double, sometimes triple in the long run.
$2000 for a 12mth old bali hut or $5000 – $10,000 (depending on size) for a australian built structure that will stand for 25 years plus, you do the maths.

our advise: ask the questions on what materials they use, do your research and go with a company who is reputable & experienced in the industry.
checkout there reviews & look at the work they have completed on social media.
